What is Soar & Roar Festival?

Soar & Roar Festival is fundraising event for Special Olympics Australia. The event celebrates International Day of People with Disability and is known as Australia’s most inclusive motoring festival.

Who can take part in Soar & Roar Festival?

Drivers: If you’ve got a classic or exotic car, you can register to take part in one of our rides. Starting points are around the Sydney area and all rides converge on Sydney Motorsport Park. As a driver you’ll be assigned a person with intellectual disabilities to give a ride in your car to Sydney Motorsport Park. Once at Sydney Motorsport Park, you’ll do a lap of the track, take part on our opening ceremony, then enjoy the day until the time comes to do another few laps with new passengers.

Motorcyclists: Motorcyclists are invited to join one of our many motorcycle rides from around New South Wales to Sydney Motorsport Park. Once at Sydney Motorsport Park, you’ll do a lap of the track, take part on our opening ceremony, then enjoy the rest of the day.

People with Intellectual Disabilities: Families, carers, disability support providers and those with an intellectual disability are invited to register to reserve your spot for Soar & Roar Festival today.

Billy Cart Drivers:  You can register to build and drive your own bill cart as part of our Soar & Roar Billy Cart derby. Billy Cart Derby is open to everyone. Register here.

What does it cost?

There is no entry fee for Car drivers.

Motorcyclists can register for early bird prices for $35.

Registration fee covers entry to the event, lap of honour around the Sydney Motorsport Park, entry to the VIP Wheeler Club for lunch and refreshments during the day and Soar & Roar merchandise to remember your 2019 experience (Drivers: cap, Motorcyclists: bandanna and patch)

Show and Shine entry fee is $15.

There is no entry fee for Soar & Roar Billy Cart race.

There is no cost for Special Olympics Australia athletes and people with an intellectual disability to register for a Dream Ride.

Do I have to fundraise?

The Soar & Roar Festival is a charitable event and created to help raise funds for Special Olympics Australia.

Every dollar raised helps Special Olympics provide sport and movement opportunities for people with intellectual disabilities.

Only with the fundraising support of Soar & Roar participants, motoring enthusiasts and the wider community, can Special Olympics continue their important work.

How do I fundraise?

The Soar & Roar events team is here to support you through all your fundraising efforts. We have a heap of hints, tips and ideas within our fundraising tool kit. How fast can I go around the track?

Laps around Sydney Motorsport Park track are strictly limited to 80kph

Participants are required to travel within the road rules and speed limits whilst using public roads during the festival.

Do I have to be a Special Olympics athlete?

No. Anyone with an intellectual disability (ID) is invited to register to take part in the Soar & Roar Festival. All registrants with an ID will experience a dream ride in a car around the track of Sydney Motorsport Park and a Healthy Athlete experience.

How am I selected for a Dream Ride?

Once you’ve registered, we’ll be in touch closer to the event to confirm your Dream Ride.  

You may be selected for only one morning or afternoon ride.

Some Dream Rides are exclusive to selected Special Olympics Clubs.

When do I find out about my ride?

We’ll be in touch in October to confirm your Dream Ride.

 

We’ll take into consideration your preferred rides from:

  • morning ride
  • afternoon ride session 1 (registration from 10am for 12pm-1pm ride time)
  • afternoon ride session 2 (registration from 12.30pm for 2pm-3pm ride time)

 

Before you complete your ride, you will need to complete your free health check in the Healthy Athlete Program.

How do I enter?

Can I volunteer to help?

Yes. We welcome volunteer assistance for our Festival.

Can I register a group of people for Dream Rides?

Yes. Bulk registrations of people with intellectual disabilities are welcomed. Please use the registration form you will receive on email to register multiple people.

Can I become a sponsor?

What happens if there is bad weather?

Soar & Roar Festival is an all-weather event. Keep in touch with us on Facebook for more details as we get closer to the event.

Do I need to provide my Working with Children Check to drive?

Working with Children Checks on drivers and participants are not required by law for the Soar & Roar Festival. Each participant (drivers, athletes, parents and carers) is asked to participant with this in mind. All participant should ensure they are abiding by current laws regarding children.
